After releasing its debut album, Nena za Chikondi, in 2021, the 13-member classic acapella group is returning with a 13-track album that revolves around God’s love, discipleship and mission.

In an interview, the group’s music director Esau Samu said the album draws inspiration from God’s love for humanity.

“The inspiration comes from recognising God’s love for the world, particularly the hope and salvation brought to people through the death of Jesus Christ on the cross, as stated in John 3:16 and John 1:29. We would like to preach this message through this album,” he said.

Samu said the audience should expect a worship experience that places attendees in the spiritual realm.

“Attendees should expect to experience a real-time worship experience, with no unnecessary noise,” he said.

Produced by Gift Bamusi of Gifted People Records, the album comprises songs such as Ndikakumbuka, Yesu Chimwemwe, I Will Go, Ndionetse Yesu, Yesu Fumu, Ona, M’khale Nane, Like Jesus, Light After Darkness, Ndisamkonderenji, Sabbath Day, Ndinu Wakuyera and Tsiku Lokoma.

The launch will feature performances from local groups such as Vocal Fusion, Kamwana Family and Christ Echoes, as well as Rusenzi from Zambia.

Vocal Fusion’s member Innocent Masanjala complimented Peculiar Music Ministry’s sound. He added that attendees should expect a memorable performance.

He said: “Peculiar Music Ministry has a unique sound. They have mastered the art of blending their voices beautifully, coupled with rich and creative chord progressions that make their music distinctive and captivating.

“We are ready to dish out good music and take the audience on an incredible musical journey.”

Acapella music fan Andrew Sekeni said Peculiar Music Ministry has developed an identity within the acapella ministry tradition.

He said: “Peculiar is a vocal ensemble that treats the voice not merely as a substitute for instruments but as an instrument in itself. Its entire musical architecture gives it a sound that moves between tradition and modernity.”

Sekeni said he expects Peculiar to remain intentional in their upcoming album.
